MINDGARDEN

MINDGARDEN
A choreographic project by Jochen Roller

In his choreographic project MINDGARDEN, Jochen Roller examines the developing process of choreography by tracing the origins of movement. In different showings, each one having a different cast, the choreographer reveals his choreograhic work methods in front of the audience and thereby questions the function of these methods.

In MINDGARDEN the dancer’s movements are choreographic patterns which, as traces, refer to the situations in which these patterns were made. MINDGARDEN grows as the dancers follow these traces by dancing after them. This makes the dancers prompting themselves as they ‘bodyprompt’ the situations in which they have moved already before: Thus, the dance of the doubles informs about the development and function of the choreography.
